Roles of water in human bodies |
1. Water is the carrier for nutrients:
Nutrients that we consume have to be dissolved in water, delivered, and absorbed to create energy for body cells in several parts of the bodies.
Also, water transports and helps getting rid of body wastes.
2. Water transports antibodies and antioxidants:
Ninety-two percent of blood is water. Hence, blood is water. Moreover, water carries antibodies and antioxidants to body organs in order to destroy foreign matters. However, if water is contaminated or becomes acidic, antibodies will not be strong enough to fight against germs, toxins, or contaminations. The body will simply lose and result in illnesses. Also, aging will become more obvious very soon.
3. Water keeps fluid balance and reduces waste collection in the body:
Lack of enough resting can result in fatigue and dehydration, which, in turn, can cause imbalance of bodily fluids. Moreover, psychological stress, drug overdosage, consumption of instant food, and overeating make the body want even more water. If a sufficient amount of water is not compensated for, more wastes will accumulate in the body and will cause more complicated problems later. Prolonged collection of wastes in the body can inevitably cause rapid aging.
4. Water aids respiration:
The body needs water for respiration. When we inhale oxygen (O2) and exhale carbon dioxide (CO2), normally we need water to moisturize the lungs.
5. Water prevents renal failure:
Kidneys help getting rid of wastes, such as uric acid, urea, and lactic acid, which can be dissolved in water. Therefore, if there is not enough water in the body, those wastes may not be completely removed, which will cause the kidneys to work harder and results in malfunctioning or renal failure. Water also helps preventing cystitis.
6. Water helps lubricate joints:
The ends of bones are joints, such as joints of the spine. Lack of water makes those joints more difficult to move. If there is enough water, those joints will move more easily and possess less friction. The danger of abrasive damage to cartilages will not occur, and the risk of arthralgia is reduced as well.
7. Water is a component of the brain, being the second largest fluid amount behind the blood:
The brain contains water for 85%. Dehydration reduces brain functioning and causes fatigue and psychological stress later on.
8. Water helps with weight loss:
Water has no calorie. It will help with weight loss. Drinking a lot of water can reduce the craves for food during the meals. Consequently, the body has to burn and use stored fat instead.
9. Water helps in all levels of the digestive system:
If we lose water, the digestive system will malfunction because water and enzymes cannot work properly. If there is enough water in the body, the water will facilitate digestion of food, nutrients from which can be easily absorbed by the body. Constipation is generally caused by chronic lack of water. If we drink more water and eat more fibers, constipation will be relieved. Research has found that gastritis, gastroenteritis, dyspepsia, and flatulence can also be remedied by drinking plenty of water. Water also dissolves and removes toxins remained in colons with excrements, which will also indirectly relieve hemorrhoids.
10. Water helps increase metabolisms:
Water is the medium in all body chemical reactions and is a good solvent. It can carry nutrients, hormones, oxygen, etc, to different cells through blood and lymph. In case of dehydration, ones metabolisms for creating energy cannot initiate.
11. Water brings about good health and slows down the skin aging:
Seventy percent of the body and cells are composed of water. The DNA (the prototype of new cells containing genetic information) has water as a component as well. If the body lacks water, chemical reactions in the body will lose their balances. If there is a consistent lack of water, the results will be skin wrinkles and low level of immunities.
